The Anglo Nubian Kids

The Anglo Nubian kids came to us when they were just 4 days old, rescued from a local dairy herd and destined, ultimately, for for the meat market.  Hand reared and bottle fed from the beginning they are very tame and always come over to visitors for a fuss - except when they are eating, of course, as nothing can get in the way of that!

Be careful if they get close, though, as, like all goats they are particualry fond of nibbling clothes and handbags.

As a break with tradition at Manor Farm we ran a competition with children to name the kids, and they came up with Bambi, Ash, Milo and Reo - great names, we think you will agree.

See a short video clip of the kids at play!
(don't forget to come back to us!)

  Jammie & Dodger

Jammie & Dodger

Brothers Jammie & Dodger are Toggenberg goats named after our first, the legendary Naughty Billy Biscuit.  When they were born they were not required, as they are were males, and, like the Anglo Nubians, they would have been destined for meat.

 Curly

Curly 2

Born 14th March 1996 Curly came from Stanton on the Wolds. He was surplus to breeding requirements so has been castrated. He is from showing stock and is Champion Show standard but has not been shown.
Now he is getting on a bit in years he wears a coat in winter, and has had numerous problems with his teeth.

Dewie

 Dewie 4

Born 20th April 1993, Dewie is a Pygmy goat and was one of triplets.  The breeder's husband was very ill and had to cut the herd down. Our vet informed us that these triplets were in need of a home. As they were still being fed by their mother she came too, for the time being. However, when the time came for her to go back we were asked if we could keep her as well.
Like Curly he is one of our "old men" and wears a coat to keep warm.  He still has loads of spirit though!

 Grace

Grace 6 Grace is an Angora goat. She has recently lost her partner William. Patch has been introduced into her field and they have quickly become the best of friends.  Grace is a really sweet lady.

 Jack

 Jack 7

Jack came to Manor Farm with his half-sister Jill.  They are a cheeky pair of pygmy goats - watch out when they want to play their favourite game of pretend head-butting!

They are both extremely lively but we are persevering with halter training so that they can enjoy some lovely walks around the Farm

Louie

 Louie 2

Born 20th April 1993, Louie is a Pygmy goat and was one of triplets.

King James & The 5 Princes

 James and princes

James is the leader of a small herd of 6 pygmy goats that were rescued in 2007.  They have been named King James and the 5 Princes (Charles, Edward, Andrew, Harry & William).  They would have gone for meat had we not rescued them.

 Melton

 Melton 2

Born 26th February 1995 Melton is a cross Pygmy Sanaan. He was bought from Melton market as a baby, only a few days old. His mother had already been sold but the buyer didn't want him. We had to bargain with a meat man and ended up paying over the odds but, he's happy with us now.
Melton has become top of the herd, and loves going for walks with his friends Jammie & Dodger.

 Patch

 Patch 2

Born 5th November 1995 Patch is a Pygmy. She also came from
My Little Farm at Plungar when it closed. Originally a breeder was interested
but didn't come back as promised so, we stepped in as she was
very friendly and was used to being handled by the visitors.
